LexisNexis CaseMap® Fundamentals Series
Posted by AME3bg
The CaseMap Fundamentals webinar series teaches the key features you'll want to know to get up and rolling with CaseMap. Six brief webinars, most under 12 minutes long, make up this "Basics" course. They're all available 24/7 so you can take them at your convenience. (Please note:  you're welcome to a live, 60-minute, no-charge phone training session taught by a member of the LexisNexis CaseMap Support Staff that covers the same material. The only cost to you for phone training is the cost of originating the phone call.  To schedule a live phone session write casemap.support@lexisnexis.com

Here are the six sessions in the CaseMap Fundamentals Webinar Series:

Session 1: Introducing CaseMap (10 minutes)
In this session we introduce you to our case analysis tool to you, review our terminology for what you see on your screen and show you the different kinds of case info you can capture in the CaseMap case file.

Session 2: Reports, Printing and Work Product  (12 minutes)
Reporting in CaseMap is basically What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get. In this session, we take a look at some examples of work product you can use once you get your case info under way and how easy it is to create a variety of reports.

Session 3: Working With Spreadsheets  (11 minutes)
This session shows you how to enter information into CaseMap, discusses workflow when starting a case and how to rearrange the spreadsheets. Remember, changing the appearance of your spreadsheet changes how your report looks.

Session 4: Entering Information & Linking  (14 minutes)
This session assumes you've got a good start on your Cast of Characters and Issues and that you're ready to enter Facts. We also cover internal and external linking--many litigation support applications integrate with CaseMap, including LexisNexis® online resources, and we'll show you some of these productive integrations in action.

Session 5: The Document Index & Link Summary Fields  (12 minutes)
This session reviews the Objects-Documents spreadsheet, also known as the Document Index. We cover important fields that automatically connect documents and emails to the people associated with them. We encourage you to take advantage of other resources in our Webinar Center to learn more about document indexing in CaseMap. Click here for an introduction and here for more advanced topics and a Certification.

Session 6: Creating A New Case File & Support Resources  (8 minutes)
This final module of CaseMap Fundamentals gives you some tips on creating a new case file. We also make you aware of support resources where you can get all your questions answered or learn more about advanced features of LexisNexis CaseMap.

Should more Law Schools move to a skills-based curriculum??

Yes, this would better prepare students.
No, a traditional legal education is best.
A blend of both should be considered.
