Personal Injury Law Overview
Posted by AME3bg
Personal injury (PI) law covers civil liability for injury to the “person,” which can include corporate entities if certain requirements are met. Injury includes any wrong or damage done to another in his person, property, rights, or reputation. A personal injury may be physical or psychological, but to be considered actionable, it must occur due to the negligence or unreasonably unsafe actions of a person or organization who owes a duty of care. Examples of personal injury causes of action include professional malpractice, wrongful birth, wrongful death, libel, slander, business torts, motor vehicle or other transportation negligence, product liability, employment torts, trespass, and nuisance.
